Five Songs That Stick Like Glue

It happens to all of us. It's unexpected. It's random. It's seemingly there forever.

What is it?

It's that song that infects your brain. It's that lyric that plays back and forth in your mind on an endless loop.

You try to avoid it at all costs, but unfortunately for you, that won't work this time. Here's a list of the five songs that are most often stuck in my head. Sorry to share the infection. :)

1. Stuck Like Glue -- Sugarland
"There you go makin' my heart beat again, heart beat again, heart beat again. There you go makin' me feel like a kid, won't you do it, do it one time. There you go pullin' me right back in, right back in, right back in and I know I'm never lettin' this go. I'm stuck on you, wha-oh wha-oh stuck like glue, you and me baby we're stuck like glue."

With the title of this blog, you had to see it coming. :) The simplicity of this song is what makes it so irresistably catchy -- it's not hard to remember the words. It's easy to sing along with, and it's just totally adorable. For me, it's one of those songs that I don't mind having stuck in my head, because it just makes me smile. :)

2. Red Solo Cup -- Toby Keith
"Red solo cup, I lift you up, proceed to party. Proceed to party. I love you red solo cup. I fill you up. Proceed to party. Proceed to party."

This song... is stupid. Honestly, it's ridiculous. However, I can't help but love it. As much as I hate to say it, it takes some talent to write a four-minute song about a cup. :P The verses are clever and have a kind of sing-songy quality, making it easy to keep up. The lyrics are so unbelievably crazy that within the first listen you'll have half the song down. And once you remember it, you can't forget it...

3. Paradise -- Coldplay
"This could be para, para, paradise. Para, para, paradise."

This is one of my favorite songs right now. Repetition always make it easier to get a song stuck in your head, and this one is a good example of that. It probably helps that the music video is crazy -- that was actually the first time I heard the song, so now everytime I hear it I see elephants dancing around in my head. :P

4. Set Fire to the Rain -- Adele
"But I set fire to the rain, watched it pour as I touched your face. Let it burn, while I cry, cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name."

I've been singing this song on an endless loop for the past week. Everything from the opening line to the chorus is just catchy for some reason. I picked this one over Rolling In the Deep because I like this song a LOT more. I feel like it's less obnoxious, in a way. I don't know why, but "I set fiiiiiiiire to the rain" seems to be permanently drilled into my brain, which is why this song earns a spot on this list.

5. Barton Hollow -- The Civil Wars
"You keep walking, running, running for miles."

I randomly heard this line a few weeks ago on the radio, and it stuck with me for some reason. Then I listened to the whole thing, and the first ten seconds were stuck in my head. There aren't even real words in the beginning moments. This is honestly kind of a weird choice, because this isn't necessarily a song I'd label as "catchy," but I couldn't get it out of my head for the longest time -- that's why it ended up on this list.

Maybe you ended up with one of these stuck in your head. Maybe you didn't.

You're lucky if you didn't, honestly. Having a song stuck in your head isn't the greatest thing ever.

If you did, there's actually a website for "unhearing" it. Good luck! :)

Why so heartless?

There's a reason why dogs are called man's best friend.

Now, they're becoming cat's best friend as well.

One day, Reagan's owner returned home to find an old bag of Meow Mix laying abandoned in her yard. She noticed that Reagan was visibly upset and refused to leave the bag. The woman, upon further investigation, found two kittens covered in blood, desparately trying to escape their sealed prison. The blood was from the kittens' dead brothers and sisters, whose crushed bodies remained.

The woman called her local animal rescue and took the kittens into her home to care for them. It was later reported that the bag of kittens was thrown into the road to be killed. Whatever heartless, cruel person did this almost got their wish, had it not been for Reagan.

It's sick. We need less people like this in our world; it would be a MUCH better place without them. We need more people like Reagan's owner -- filled with compassion and generosity. Those who will take time out of their day to help others, whether the ones they help are human or not.

The rescue center posted daily updates to their website to let people know how the kittens were doing. The shelter stated that the kittens were doing well physically, but there was still a question about their psychological state. Some people may say that animals have no feelings -- I totally disagree. If animals have no feelings, how could you explain this dog staying by his owner's side, even at his funeral?

I just don't understand how some people are so cruel. Reading about events like this breaks my heart; I just can't see how whoever dumped these poor orphaned kittens into the road didn't feel something telling them to stop. I guess that's what's wrong with most people nowadays... they are lacking one of the most important traits of a human being -- a conscience.

10 Reasons Why I Adore Concerts

If you know me, you'll know that I'm obsessed with concerts. I've been to five in the past two years, and they never get old. It's an expensive addiction, but the experience is totally worth it. :) One day, I randomly thought about the reasons why I adore concerts, and this list was born. Only ten of the reasons why concerts are amazing are here, because there's not enough time in the day to talk about all of them. So, here we go:
10. Everyone gets along, because you're all there for the same reason. I've been to at least eight concerts, and I've never had any problems with fighting or crazy stuff like that. I've never had anything spilled on me either. That has to be some kind of record.
9. That one slow song where everyone holds up their lighters / phones. My friend and I decided to be creative and different, so instead of holding up our phones, we held up the lighter app on our iPods because yes, we are just that cool. :)
8. You forget about everything for two and a half hours. It's like a mini-vacation, without all the stress of packing and the super-long road trip. :)
7. You can be totally crazy and it's okay -- everyone else is too. If they're not, that's their loss and their fault if you accidently step on them. If they had been jumping too, their feet obviously wouldn't have been on the ground, and therefore not in your way. :P
6. The next day rolls around, and you're not even tired because you're still running on adrenaline. The last concert I went to was on the Friday before homecoming -- we had to be at school at 7:30 a.m. for the parade, and we were totally awake.
5. The energy is insaneeee. Yes, it's insane with three extra e's, because there's no other way to describe it.
4. Crowd sing-alongs. That is all.
3. You can sing as loudly (and as badly) as you want and no one will hear you or care. If they care, it's their fault that you sound like a dying cat -- if they had been singing too, they wouldn't have heard you. :] (clearly, if someone's being obnoxious or rude at a concert, everything that happens to them is THEIR fault because they are not having any fun!!)
2. The moment where you go to walk away and you can't because you've been jumping up and down for the past two hours. This is seriously the greatest / worst feeling ever. Greatest because you just had the time of your life, and worst because you feel like jello and people give you weird looks. :/ But it's all worth it!
1. The feeling when the concert ends and the lights come back on and you stand there, wondering what just happened. You can't walk, you can't hear anything, and your throat hurts, but it was pretty much just the greatest experience of your life and you'd do anything to rewind and see it all again. **This feeling usually only lasts for about 5-10 minutes because once you're actually walking back to your car, you realize how tired you really are and how far away you parked.**

There are tons of other little moments I could have picked for my list, like how on the way home you and your friend are screaming at each other because you can't hear, but I condensed it specifically for this blog. I hope you enjoyed reading it! :)
